    The Park Avenue Apartments consists of construction of 184 residential apartments from level 4 – 17. This included 3 levels of basement car parking, 4 levels of above ground parking and tenancy provisions. Works consisted of: sewer drainage, stormwater drainage, trade waste drainage, siphonic drainage, sanitary stackwork, hot water services, cold water servoces, gas services and fire services.

  • Tiara United Towers

    Tiara United Towers

    Tiara United Towers is a residential development consisting of two 50-storey towers with a structural height of approximately 200 meters. Situated on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Business Bay Metro station, the twin towers are a prominent feature of the Dubai skyline.

     

    The construction of the building commenced under previous building codes, but when the project was revived, it needed to comply with updated codes. This posed a challenge as the new codes, especially for super-high-rise buildings, had undergone significant modifications. Vortex Fire was tasked with developing a fire strategy that not only met the new code requirements but also provided practical solutions for upgrading the existing design.

    Skygardens Tower Dubai

    Sky Gardens Tower in Dubai is a remarkable example of modern architecture and design, standing prominently in the bustling city. The tower offers magnificent views of the surroundings and features top-tier amenities, making it a prime residential choice for many.

     

    What enhances the tower’s appeal is the rigorous attention to safety and security measures integrated during its construction. Sky Gardens Tower consulted Vortex Fire for expertise on the fire escape routes and the Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) fire drill.

     

    Vortex Fire worked closely with the developers and architects to ensure the building met all critical safety requirements. This collaboration included the precise placement of fire alarms, sprinklers, and smoke detectors.

  • New 4-storey Supportive Housing Building

    New 4-storey Supportive Housing Building

    Vortex Fire played a crucial role in this project, serving as the Building Code Consultant. Their expertise ensured that the building met all necessary regulations and standards, contributing to the safety and integrity of the structure.

     

    The new 4-storey, 22,000 sq ft multi-unit residential building is a significant step towards providing affordable housing for single women experiencing homelessness in the Waterloo Region.

     

    Designed to prioritize sustainability and innovation, the project is constructed entirely with cross-laminated timber, including the stair and elevator shafts. Located in Kitchener, Ontario, this development is a result of the partnership between design builder Melloul Blamey, Edge Architects Ltd., and cross-laminated timber manufacturer Element5. Their successful design build proposal in the spring of 2021 marked a milestone in the region’s affordable housing efforts.

    One Hundred Victoria


    The new residential development will be located in the Innovation District of downtown Kitchener, Ontario, and will consist of two residential towers, 17 and 21 storeys respectively, rising above a three-storey podium. The two towers will offer 276 residential suites and state-of-the-art amenities. Vortex Fire served as the building code consultant for the project.

  • Durham Modular Supportive Housing

    Durham Modular Supportive Housing


    This modular, affordable housing development will be located in the town of Beaverton, Ontario. Created to “push the boundaries of affordable housing,” the prefabricated project will provide 49 self-contained bachelor suites in just 12 months, from design to occupancy. The simple gabled architecture takes inspiration from the rural vernacular with elements such as sloped roofs, dark exterior cladding, and light-toned timber interiors. Vortex Fire is serving as the Building Code Consultant for this exciting project.

  • Bergen Gardens

    Bergen Gardens

    The Bergen Gardens development is a six-story, mass timber senior living apartment building, featuring 149 assisted living suites in various layouts, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options.

     

    Located at 1475 Molson Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this project has benefitted from the expertise of Vortex Fire, who served as the Building Code – Mass Timber consultant. The development is a collaborative effort between Bird Construction and MMP Architects.

  • 175 Cummer Avenue –Modular Housing

    175 Cummer Avenue –Modular Housing

    Vortex Fire is honored to contribute to the City of Toronto’s latest affordable housing initiative, which aims to create 1,000 new modular homes in Toronto.

     

    The planned three-story modular housing building at 175 Cummer Avenue, adjacent to Willowdale Manor, Toronto, is a crucial part of this initiative. The building will feature 60 self-contained studio apartments, each equipped with a twin bed, a private eat-in kitchen, and a bathroom. Additionally, the building will house a laundry facility, a kitchen and dining room, program space, and administrative offices. Designed to support individuals transitioning out of homelessness, this project represents a significant step towards addressing the housing needs of vulnerable populations in the city.

     

    Vortex Fire has played a key role in this project as the Building Code Consultant, ensuring that the building meets all necessary codes and regulations, and providing expertise to support the success of this vital community initiative.
