  • World Trade Centre (WTC)

    World Trade Centre (WTC)

    The mixed-use development boasts two malls, a 92-storey residential tower (Burj Mohammed bin Rashid), a 60-storey office tower, and a hotel. The first mall features a 3-storey souk, while the second mall is a 7-storey shopping centre. All levels are interconnected by several atria, with a pedestrian bridge above a central area providing access between the two malls. Additionally, the development includes six levels of common basement parking. The Burj Mohammed bin Rashid stands as the tallest building in Abu Dhabi.

     

    Vortex Fire conducted a thorough gap analysis to assess the existing fire safety provisions and developed a retrospective fire strategy. They have also provided ongoing support to the project team, assisting with numerous modifications and changes to the existing approved fire strategy.

  • Marsa Al Seef

    Marsa Al Seef

    Marsa Al Seef is a waterfront mixed-use development located on the banks of Dubai Creek adjacent to Al Seef Street in Dubai. Spread over 1.8 km, the project includes residential, leisure, retail, and entertainment facilities.

     

    Key features of the project include:

     

    – Three hotels offering a total of 550 keys, including a 200-key heritage hotel, a 150-key contemporary upscale hotel, and a 200-key contemporary luxury hotel. – An open-air museum and an amphitheater. – Retail and F&B areas featuring floating markets, art galleries, and shops for Emirati handicrafts.

     

    Vortex Fire developed the master plan fire strategy for the site and the fire strategy for individual buildings.

  • Katara Phase IV

    Katara Phase IV

    This project, located in Doha, Qatar, is a comprehensive development featuring a Hotel Tower, Serviced Apartments Tower, Conference center, and a Parking structure that interconnects all the above assets. Additionally, luxury apartments with parking facilities, retail units on the ground floor, and a Mosque are part of the development.

     

    The Iconic Hotel concept is inspired by the idea of a “gate,” symbolizing a religious connection as it aligns directly with Makah, and visually representing a gateway for those arriving in Doha via the future causeway or from the opposite land side. The architectural design consists of two towers, each with G+29 stories, forming a perfect Islamic arch without touching each other. One tower serves as a hotel while the other is dedicated to serviced apartments.

     

    The luxury apartments are organized into clusters labeled as Cluster A, Cluster B, Cluster C, Cluster D, Cluster E, and Cluster F. Retail units and parking areas are situated on the ground level of the luxury apartment clusters, enhancing the convenience and accessibility of the development.

  • Gaslight Condos

    Gaslight Condos

    Situated in historic downtown Galt, Cambridge, the Gaslight condominium project is a development consisting of four hundred units. It will feature residential, commercial, retail, art, dining, as well as community and cultural events spaces. The Gaslight District pays homage to Cambridge’s historic presence during the 1800s, reflecting the era when the streets were illuminated by the warm glow of gas lampposts crafted by the former Galt Gas Light Company.

     

    Tower 1 offers ample entertainment space, including professional fitness features such as a gym, yoga studio, and stylish change rooms, encouraging residents to prioritize their well-being within a five-star lifestyle setting. Tower 2 features over fifteen thousand square feet of indoor and outdoor activity space. The outdoor terrace offers a backyard experience, all within the convenience of high-rise living, allowing residents to enjoy social activities and leisure time while overlooking Gaslight Square and the Grand River.

     

    As the Building Code Consultant for the project, Vortex Fire reviewed the existing heritage buildings and new condominiums for compliance with the Ontario Building Code. This included egress, Part 11 analysis, spatial separation, and high building requirements.

    The Arc Student Residence is a 16-story, mixed-use student residential building located at 2525 Pembina Highway in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The ground floor will feature retail, business, and personal services units. Vortex Fire served as the Fire Safety Engineer for this project, ensuring the highest standards of fire safety and protection.

    73 Broadway Avenue

    73 Broadway Avenue is an exciting new addition to Toronto’s skyline, featuring a striking 40-storey rental building. Situated in Toronto, Ontario, the building comprises two storeys below grade and 38 storeys above grade.

     

    Vortex Fire played a crucial role in this project, serving as the building code consultant. They meticulously reviewed the architectural design to ensure compliance with accessibility, fire, and life safety requirements. Additionally, Vortex Fire conducted a thorough review of the existing building, ensuring compliance with OBC Part 11 and assessing code implications related to the changes completed on the existing structure, including the provision of new assembly space on the roof terrace.
