Timed Egress Analysis
Timed egress analysis calculates the time required for building occupants to reach a safe location during an evacuation, based on occupant load, travel distance, and exit capacity.
It verifies that a building’s means of egress meets code-prescribed evacuation timeframes.
Why It’s Needed
This analysis is typically needed for buildings with complex layouts, high occupant loads, or significant height or area, common in high-rise residential, assembly, and institutional buildings, or wherever prescriptive exit requirements are difficult to satisfy directly.
