OUR IMPACT

The Questacon National Science and Technology Centre houses a wide range of fun, interactive learning experiences that are aimed at stimulating engagement in science and technology. Visitors to the centre are treated to various hands-on activities and experiments ranging from interactive robots to the infamous earthquake experience.

Originally designed in 1985 by renowned architect Lawrence Nield, the building was recognised for its architectural excellence with the awarding of the prestigious Canberra Medallion in 1989. The design incorporated advanced construction materials for its time and featured a prominent glass foyer that contributes to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

Vortex Fire played a crucial role in the sprinkler refurbishment works for the development, ensuring the historic Canberra building can continue to bring joy to science and technology enthusiasts for many years to come. In our capacity as Fire Engineering Consultants for the project, Vortex Fire ensured that all refurbishment works remained compliant with the applicable fire safety standards and regulations stipulated by the National Construction Code, through modelling and testing of the sprinkler system performance.
