New Mandatory Certification Requirements Issued by ADCDA

The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) has released an official circular introducing mandatory certification requirements for the following:

· Class G contractors
· Suppliers issuing Engineering Judgments (EJs)
· Houses of Expertise involved in firestop and through penetration systems

This move reinforces ADCDA’s continued commitment to raising fire safety standards and aligning with international best practices.

Key Highlights:

· All Class G contractors – certification must be obtained through approved programs such as FM 4991, UL Qualified Contractor Program.

· All registered House of Expertise (HoEs) engaged in reviewing, inspecting, or evaluating firestop systems must have at least two engineers who have successfully completed the IFC Firestop Special Inspector Program, instead of FM or UL contractor certifications.

· All suppliers issuing Engineering Judgments (EJs) are required to be qualified under the UL Technical Evaluation Developer Program (TEDP). Non-compliant trade licenses will be suspended after the grace period.

· All contractors, suppliers, HoEs must submit proof of certification as part of their trade license application or renewal.

· A six-month grace period is now in effect for all the changes.

· Valid certification will be required for all new and renewal license applications

We at Vortex Fire Fire are proud to share that our team has successfully completed the process and obtained the required certification as a registered House of Expertise (HoE). We also extend our sincere thanks to ADCDA for their commitment to the highest standards of fire safety.
