    Vortex Fire played a critical role in the development as Fire Engineering Consultants, ensuring full compliance with all relevant fire safety codes and regulations as mandated by the National Construction Code. In addition to regulatory compliance, Vortex Fire conducted advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and evacuation modelling to support effective smoke hazard management within the building.


    Delivered in collaboration with Stewart Architecture, the project represents a successful integration of fire engineering and architectural expertise, resulting in a dynamic hub for fresh produce and culinary experiences in the heart of Canberra.

    Radford College Wigg Sports Centre

    The Radford College Wigg Sports Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that supports a broad range of sporting and co-curricular activities for students and the wider community.


    Vortex Fire played a critical role in the development as Fire Engineering Consultants, ensuring that the insulation materials used throughout the facility complied with all relevant fire safety codes and regulations as mandated by the National Construction Code. This process involved lab testing and reporting in accordance with AS 1530.1, including the assessment of insulation samples from the building’s walls to verify compliance with the combustibility provisions of the Code.


    Through this work, Vortex Fire has helped ensure that the Wigg Sports Centre continues to provide high-quality sporting amenities while upholding the highest standards of fire safety for students, staff, and the broader community.

    Riverside Cabins Thredbo

    The Thredbo Riverside Cabins are renowned for their exceptional location along the Thredbo River, within walking distance of the village square and ski slopes. Designed to harmonise with the surrounding alpine landscape, the cabins feature timber cladding that evokes a warm, mountainous character while allowing the development to blend seamlessly into its natural environment.


    Vortex Fire served as Bushfire Consultants on the project, undertaking comprehensive assessments of bushfire risk mitigation and loss reduction strategies tailored to the alpime setting. Our work encompassed considerations for enhancing the surrounding bushland, improving the cabins’ bushfire resilience, and facilitating effective fire service intervention. These measures were implemented without compromising the intimate, cosy aesthetic of the cabins or their integration with the natural environment.


    Delivered in collaboration with DNA Architects, the project combines expertise to create ideal holiday accommodation for mountain adventurers in Australia.

    To uphold the highest standards of safety and security, Vortex Fire undertook comprehensive passive fire inspections, meticulously assessing the façade and conducting thorough inspections. At One at Palm Jumeirah, every detail is carefully attended to, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all visitors.

  • Dubai Creek Harbour (DCH)Master Plan

    Dubai Creek Harbour (DCH)Master Plan


    Dubai Creek Harbour (DCH) is a new masterplan developed by Emaar Properties in collaboration with Dubai Holding. The development is situated on the banks of the Dubai Creek to the north, and adjacent to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary to the west. The project covers a 5.6 million square meter footprint and is expected to feature 48,500 residential units in total, housing approximately 175,000 residents. Vortex Fire was involved in preparing a site-wide fire strategy for the development.

  • The Art Gallery Of Sudbury

    The Art Gallery Of Sudbury

    The Art Gallery of Sudbury has been a prominent cultural institution since its establishment in 1967, initiated as a Centennial project by the Sudbury and District Chamber of Commerce.

     

    The new 104,000-square-foot Junction East building represents a significant addition to Sudbury’s cultural landscape, housing not only the Greater Sudbury Central Public Library but also the Art Gallery of Sudbury, the Sudbury Multicultural, and the Folk Arts Association. The building is envisioned as a central cultural hub for the city.

     

    Vortex Fire plays a crucial role in this project as the building code consultant. Their expertise has been instrumental in evaluating various massing and integration approaches, ensuring a robust fire safety strategy for the interconnected floor space, and defining spatial separation between buildings.

  • T3 Sterling Road

    T3 Sterling Road

    T3 Sterling Road will consist of two mass timber office buildings located in Toronto’s Lower Junction neighborhood. The project aims to combine timber, transit, and technology to create an inspired workplace tailored for the modern creative workforce. The buildings will offer various amenities, including employee collaboration areas, rooftop patios with skyline views, balconies on every floor, indoor bike parking and end-of-trip facilities, a fitness center, and high-quality independent retail options.

     

    Vortex Fire is serving as the building code consultant and fire safety engineer for the project.
